Wenatchee, WA. – The Wenatchee
Wolves were in action this past weekend at The Rink at the Town Toyota Center
in Wenatchee and topped the Bellingham Blazers twice, 4-3 in overtime on
Sunday, January 17th and 2-0 on Monday, January 18th.
On Sunday, January 17th, the Wolves were down 2-1
after two, but got a goal late in regulation from Will Connors (Richland, WA) to force overtime. Then, not quite
halfway through the extra session, Connors scored to win it for Wenatchee.
Connors scored twice, Raymond Fleming
(Palo Alto, CA) and Hunter Alden
(Walla Walla, WA) also scored for the Wolves, who got 24 saves from Max Flynn (Wenatchee, WA). Wenatchee
was 0-for-8 on the power play and 5-of-5 on the penalty kill.
On Monday, January 18th, the Wolves blanked the
Blazers 2-0. Jack Newhouse
(Anchorage, AK) and Connors on the power play scored the goals; Bronson Moore (Kennewick, WA) made 13
saves. Wenatchee was 1-for-4 on the power play and 6-of-6 on the penalty kill.
Speaking after Monday’s game, Wolves Head Coach Ryan McKelvie
said “I thought our guys battled hard today. We got a lot of good quality scoring
chances on net. I thought their goaltender played well and so did ours. Like
always it was a good, competitive game with Bellingham and we were fortunate to
come out on top.”
The Wolves are now 25-1-0-0 in NPHL play, 7 points ahead of
second place Bellingham. Next up is a home-and-home series with the Seattle
Ravens, Saturday, January 23rd in Kent and Sunday, January 24th
in Wenatchee at 2:35pm.
