The Florida Eels scored once in each period last night to edge the Tampa Bay Juniors 3-2, in game two of the USPHL's Empire South playoffs in Ellenton.

A T.J. Clingerman goal for the Eels got the scoring started at the 17:21 mark of the opening period, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead after one.

Maxim Gruzdev scored 13:51 into the second period, increasing the Eels lead to 2-0. However, in the waning moments of the period, Max Mulholland scored for the Juniors from Josh Basso and Mason Ledbetter at 19:53, cutting the Eels lead to 2-1 after two.

The lead grew to 3-1 for the Eels, as Michael Kohler scored at 5:21. But, just over two minutes later, Tampa Bay got one back. Ledbetter lit the lamp from a sharp angle. Tanner Frankich drew the lone assist at 7:56, drawing the Juniors within one, at 3-2. Tampa Bay, despite some late pressure, couldn't get the equalizer and the Eels hung on for the 3-2 win, squaring the best-of-three series at a game apiece.

The Juniors outshot the Eels 37-33. Sam Colemen made 30 saves for Tampa Bay, Sergey Hall stopped 35 shots for the Eels. The Juniors were 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-of-2 on the penalty kill.
