Twenty-Two Americans Selected to Officiate at International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in 2014-15
American Officials Will Take Part In 13 IIHF Events
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty-two American officials are serving as referees or linesmen for major International Ice Hockey Federation events in 2014-15, USA Hockey announced today.
“We have a very strong group of officials that have been selected to represent USA Hockey on the international stage,” said Matt Leaf, director of USA Hockey’s officiating education program. “They’ve all worked diligently to earn the right to officiate at the highest level.”
American officials are taking part in 13 IIHF events this season, including the recently held IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal, Canada, and the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship in Buffalo, New York, as well as the upcoming IIHF Women's World Championship in Malmo, Sweden, and IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship in Zug and Lucerne, Switzerland.
Assignments for the 2015 IIHF Men’s World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic will be determined in late February.
Officials assigned to the IIHF events this year include Geoff Miller (West Newbury, Mass.), Steve Patafie (Bethlehem, Ga.) and Judson Ritter (Bethlehem, Pa.) who served at the 2015 IIHF Men’s World Junior Championship; and Jerilyn Glenn (St. Paul, Minn.), Jackie Spresser (Westminster, Colo.) and Jessica LeClerc (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) who officiated at the 2015 Under-18 Women’s World Championship.

2004 - Master Tape Collection, based out of New Jersey, began selling 2-inch sections of reel tape. The tape contained original recordings (the "Sun Sessions) of Elvis Presley. The 2-inch cuttings preserved in a plaque sold for $495.

1984 - Wayne Gretzky set a National Hockey League (NHL) record for consecutive game scoring. He ended the streak at 51 games the next night against the Los Angeles Kings. The streak began on October 5, 1983. 

1991 - Whitney Houston sang the "Star Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XXV. 

1992 - Former world boxing champion Mike Tyson went on trial for allegedly raping an 18-year-old contestant in the 1991 Miss Black America Contest. 

2002 - The Montreal Canadiens became the first NHL team to score 10,000 home goals. The feat was achieved in the Canadiens' 2,675th regular season game. The goal was scored by Sergei Berezin who had come to the team only two days before from the Phoenix Coyotes.
