U.S. National Under-18 Team Cruises Past Finland, 8-1,
at 2014 Four Nations Tournament
Bracco Records Five-Point Game, Including Four Assists
SUNDSVALL, Sweden - Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) recorded five points, including four assists, as the U.S. National Under-18 Team cruised past Finland, 8-1, here this evening at Anashallen Arena. The game was the first of three for Team USA at the 2014 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament.
The lone goal of the first frame came when Bracco attempted a centering pass from the right corner. The feed was blocked but ricocheted to Grant Gabriele (Brighton, Mich.) who teed up the puck and launched a slapshot past Veini Vehvilainen.
Brendan Warren (Carleton, Mich.) doubled the U.S. lead at 4:31 while skating on a 5-on-3. From the bottom of the left face-off circle, Bracco found Warren far-side for the easy tap in. AustonMatthews (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also assisted. Less than two minutes later, Team USA intercepted a Finnish pass and broke out towards center. Warren would collect the puck and drop it back to TroyTerry (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) for the score. Finland would net a shorthanded goal at 8:25, but the U.S. answered at 9:55 on the power play. Bracco found Charles McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y.) to the side of the net and McAvoy knocked it past Vehvilainen. Colin White (Hanover, Mass.) also registered an assist on the play. In a similar play to Team USA's second and fourth tallies, Bracco set up Luke Kunin (Chesterfield, Mo.) for a goal at 13:30. White again earned the secondary assist.
Bracco picked up a goal at 7:04 of the final frame to earn his fifth point on the evening. Kunin made a shovel pass to Bracco from the slot to help set up the play. White also collected an assist on Bracco's score, his third of the contest. Jack Roslovic (Columbus, Ohio) then hit Matthews, who was left alone in the slot, with a pass from the left corner. Matthews' wrister made it 7-1 in favor of Team USA. Matthew Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) earned the secondary assist. Warren closed out the scoring for the U.S. taking a feed from Terry behind the net. The power-play marker was also assisted on by Michael Floodstrand (Hinsdale, Ill.).
Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) made the start today for Team USA, stopping 18 of 19 shots against. Vehvilainen turned aside 43 shots for Finland between the pipes.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team will resume tournament action tomorrow (Nov. 8) at 8 a.m. EST. The game will be held at Energi Arena in Sundsvall and can be seen live here on a pay-per-view basis.

U.S. National Under-17 Team Upends Sweden, 4-1,
at 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge 
Team USA Advances to Championship Game with Victory
SARNIA, Ont. - Four different players scored and goaltender Joseph Woll (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) made 17 saves to help the U.S. National Under-17 Team upend Sweden, 4-1, tonight in the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge semifinals at the RBC Centre. Team USA advances to face the winner of Finland / Russia in the title game.
Team Sweden opened the scoring midway through the first, but the U.S. answered at 14:30 to knot the score, 1-1, after 20 minutes of play. Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane, Wash.) notched the tally when he moved to the slot in the offensive zone, took a pass from Patrick Khodorenko (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and one-timed the puck into the top corner of the net. Nick Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) also recorded an assist on the play.
The United States doubled its lead midway through the second stanza on a goal by Joey Anderson(Roseville, Minn.). After battling low in the zone, Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) fed Anderson a perfect pass up the middle of the ice. Anderson quickly sent a shot into the back of the net for the score.
Luke Martin (St. Louis, Mo.) and Max Jones (Rochester, Mich.) scored third-period goals, both with the man advantage, to seal the victory for the U.S. While up a skater, Martin crashed the net and knocked in a rebound. Jones and Keller collected assists on the play. Just two minutes later, Jones took a pass from Keller, turned to his forehand and flipped the puck past the Swedish netminder Filip Gustavsson. Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) registered the secondary assist.
The victory puts the U.S. in the tournament's championship game tomorrow (Nov. 8) against either Finland or Russia. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. EST at the RBC Centre in Sarnia, Ont.

Four Nations: USA Beats Sweden, 3-0, in Final Prelim Game
Team USA Will Play in Championship Game Set for Nov. 8 at 10 p.m. ET
KAMLOOPS, B.C. The U.S. Women’s National Team blanked Sweden, 3-0, in its final preliminary game of the 2014 Four Nations Cup. Team USA amassed a 50-to-11 shot advantage over Sweden, and U.S. goaltender Brianne McLaughlin-Bittle (Sheffield Village, Ohio) was perfect, stopping all 11 shots, en route to victory.

With today’s win, Team USA clinched a spot in the championship matchup tomorrow (Nov. 8) against either Canada or Finland, who play later tonight. Puck drop for tomorrow’s title contest is set for 10 p.m. ET and can been seen live on FASTHockey.com.


U.S. National Under-18 Team Bests Switzerland, 7-1,
at 2014 Four Nations Tournament
Roslovic Nets Three Goals; Matthews Earns Three Assists
SUNDSVALL, Sweden - Jack Roslovic (Columbus, Ohio) netted three goals and Auston Matthews(Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned three assists as the U.S. National Under-18 Team bested Switzerland, 7-1, here today at Energi Arena. With the victory, Team USA improves to 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) at the 2014 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament.
The United States put Switzerland on notice 5:53 into the opening frame. Matthews circled with the puck, keeping away from defenders and drawing attention before flipping it to an open Roslovic in slot for score. Less than two minutes later, Team USA struck on the power play. Cycling the puck at the top of the zone, Matthews fired a shot that was redirected into the net by Roslovic. Joseph Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) also assisted. The U.S. went up 3-0 when Grant Gabriele (Brighton, Mich.) found Roslovic with a cross-ice pass and Roslovic one-timed it into the cage. Matthews collected the secondary assist. Christian Fischer (Wayne, Ill.) pushed the Team USA lead to four, wrapping around the net and sneaking the puck past Swiss netminder Matteo Ritz at 14:08.Jordan Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y.) helped set up the play and earned an assist. Michael Floodstrand (Hinsdale, Ill.) followed up a Troy Terry (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) chance and knocked a rebound in with seven seconds remaining in the period for the fifth U.S. tally.
Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) connected with Colin White (Hanover, Mass.) on the power play at 5:44 of the second stanza to make it 6-0 in favor of the United States. Luke Kunin(Chesterfield, Mo.) also assisted. Switzerland found the board in the closing minutes of the middle period to inch closer to Team USA, 6-1.
White potted the lone goal of the final frame, sending a shot past Ritz at 8:58. Bracco skated down the right side and found a streaking White in the slot for the tally. Steven Ruggiero (Kings Park, N.Y.) also assisted.
Luke Opilka (St. Louis, Mo.) turned aside 26 shots in the win for the U.S., while Ritz kicked out 28 shots in the loss for Switzerland.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team will close out tournament play tomorrow (Nov. 9) against Sweden. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. EST at Energi Arena and can be seen live here on a pay-per-view basis.
