Tickets On Sale Now for U.S. National Under-18 Team
Game Versus Adrian College at Winterfest
Outdoor Game to be Played at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Tickets are available now for the contest between the U.S. National Under-18 Team and Adrian College which will be played on an outdoor rink at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio during Winterfest 2014 presented by ProMedica. The two teams will play New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2014) at 4 p.m. EST.
The contest will mark the first-ever outdoor game played by any team from USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.
Tickets are $10 and all seating for the game is general admission. Fans can reserve tickets by calling the Toledo Walleye box office at (419) 725-WALL (9255) or by going online here.
Winterfest 2014 is a 10-day community-wide outdoor celebration taking place December 26, 2014 - January 4, 2015. Fifth Third Field, home of Minor League Baseball's Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, will be converted from a baseball field into an outdoor hockey rink during the festivities. The NHL-sized rink will stretch across the infield with the two goals near first and third base. 
ABOUT THE NTDP: In 1996, USA Hockey launched a new initiative called the National Team Development Program, based in Ann Arbor, Mich. Celebrating its 18th season of play in 2014-15, the goal of this full-time development program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.

The Tampa Bay Juniors played last weekend, with the Empire team winning twice and the Elite team once.

On Saturday the 18th, the Empire team scored three times in the second and once more in the third, then held on to beat the Palm Beach Hawks 4-3. Steven Noyes and Brandon Napoli scored once each, Mason Ledbetter twice for the Juniors, who got 36 saves from Sam Coleman. Tampa Bay was 1-for-6 on the power play and 6-of-7 on the penalty kill.

On Sunday the 19th, the Empire team won again, edging the Florida Eels in overtime, 4-3. Max Mulholland, Nathan Glick and Steven Noyes all scored in the second period, while Noyes netted the winner in overtime. Zac Gazzanna made 29 saves for Tampa Bay, which went 2-for-8 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Also on Sunday the 19th, the Elite team won, beating the Eels 3-2. Jared Goudreau scored twice and Trey Stern once. Michael Krch stopped 42 shots for the Juniors, who were 1-for-3 on the power play and 5-of-5 on the penalty kill.

Coming up this weekend, the Juniors take on the Florida Eels. On Saturday, the games, in Fort Myers, start at 3:20pm EDT for the Empire and 8:45pm EDT for the Elite. On Sunday, the scene shifts to Ellenton for the Empire game at 9:30am EDT and 12:15pm EDT for the Elite game. All games are available on Fasthockey.com.

1964 - Cotton Davidson (Oakland Raiders) threw for 427 yards in a 40-7 victory over the Denver Broncos. 

1964 - Jim Marshall (Minnesota Vikings) picked up a San Francisco fumble and ran the wrong way 66 yards into his own team's end zone for a safety. 

1978 - Gaylord Perry became the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues when he won the award in the National League. 

1981 - David Woodley (Miami Dolphins) passed for 408 yards in a 28-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

2003 - Bobby Bowden (Florida State) became the winningest coach in major college football history with his 339th victory. 

2005 - The Chicago White Sox defeated the Houston Astros 7-5 in the first World Series game to be held in Texas. The game also was the longest in World Series history at 5 hours and 41 minutes. The game actually ended on October 26th. 

2009 - The New York Yankees won their 40th American League pennant.
