Meghan Duggan Named Captain of U.S. Women's National Team
Squad to Begin Play in Four Nations Cup Tomorrow in Lake Placid, N.Y.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Meghan Duggan(Danvers, Mass.) has been named captain of the U.S. Women's National Team and will serve in that capacity during the remainder of USA Hockey's Bring on the World Tour in preparation for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
"Meghan has been a valuable leader for our team and exemplifies all aspects of what we expect from our players," said Katey Stone, head coach of the 2013-14 U.S. Women's National Team and the 2014 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team. "She has earned this opportunity with her effort on the ice and by the example she sets for her teammates."
Duggan previously served as team captain for the U.S. at the 2011 Four Nations Cup and 2008 Under-22 Series. She has also been an alternate captain at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship and 2012 Four Nations Cup.
A silver-medalist at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C., Duggan has represented the U.S. Women’s National Team in five IIHF Women’s World Championships (gold-2008, 2009, 2011, 2013; silver-2007), six Four Nations Cups (1st-2008, 2011, 2012; 2nd-2007, 2009, 2010) and one IIHF Twelve Nations Invitational Tournament Series (2011).
Duggan has appeared in 86 games for the U.S. over the span of seven seasons (2007-current) and recorded 33 goals and 23 assists for 56 points.

Duggan won the 2013 Clarkson Cup as a member of the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Prior to her professional career, she played four years at the University of Wisconsin of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and captured three NCAA Division I national championships (2007, 2009, 2011)). In 2011, she earned the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and was named USA Hockey’s Bob Allen Women’s Player of the Year. For a complete bio on Duggan, click here.

Drew Barrymore and husband Will Kopelman are expecting their second child. Barrymore has spoken of her plan to expand her family, saying that she wants daughter Olive, 13 months, to have a sibling. She recently told InStyle magazine: "I was an only child, and it was lonely."
