2012-13 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team Training Camp Starts Today

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The 2012-13 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will officially commence its season today through Sunday with a training camp at the Extreme Ice Center in Charlotte, N.C.

The squad, which includes 14 players that helped Team USA capture the gold medal at the 2012 International Paralympic Committee Sledge Hockey World Championship, welcomes three newcomers. Jeff Sauer (Madison, Wis.), former men's ice hockey head coach at the University of Wisconsin, returns as the head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, while Guy Gosselin (Grafton, Wis.) is back as assistant coach. Cowley to Play in CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Goaltender Evan Cowley (Evergreen, Colo.) has replaced Jared Rutledge on the roster of Team McClanahan for the inaugural CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game slated for Sept. 29, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

The game, which is set for a 7:00 p.m. ET faceoff, will feature 40 of the top American prospects eligible for the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Cowley is in his first season with the North American Hockey League's Wichita Falls Wildcats.

An Iranian soccer player was nearly blown up after after tossing away a grenade he thought was a piece of trash on the field. A YouTube video uploaded Thursday shows things could have ended very, very badly had the device detonated just a fraction of a second earlier. The match was called off and police are reportedly investigating.
