It's Friday

It's Friday. Here's what's happening....

************************************************

Today is October 21st, the 294th day of 2011. There are 71 days left in the year.

Thornton hits 1,000th game cherishing everything.

European players applaud NHL-MTG broadcast deal.

Another sunny day (with no humidity!!!!) here in Florida. Hockey preparations are all done for tomorrow's games, so it'll be an easy day, with Rider football on the big screen tonight.

************************************************

Tampa, FL. -- When Lightning coach Guy Boucher looks at game video, he wants to see what he calls a "five-man picture."

That is, he wants five players in such a tight, structured defensive posture, they all fit onto the screen.

"It's a pack mentality," Boucher said. "It's all about support everywhere" and "suffocating the opponent."

Assume, then, Boucher will be pleased when he screens Thursday night's 4-1 victory over the Islanders at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Read the rest here.

Jimmy and I are watching Word World. If you have young ones in your house, it's a fun show about sharing and caring, so take some time and watch it with them.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders look to snap a four-game skid tonight in Calgary against the Stampeders and hopefully grab their first win against a West Division opponent in the process. The game can be seen in Canada on TSN and in the U.S. on ESPN3.com.

Do you watch the CFL games on the NFL Network, or online in the states on ESPN3.com? If so, what elements of the game do you like? The three downs? Unlimited men in motion? The "rouge?"

Stephen: Chevrier leads the Pink Power push.

Landry: Argos pay tribute to loved ones with Pink.

Owens chasing spot in pro-football history.

Here's my favorite joke: A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks him, "Why the long face?" Long face. Get it? Oh well.

The Oregon State Beavers look to grab an elusive Pac-12 win tomorrow, when they meet the Washington State Cougars at Qwest Field in Seattle. Does your cable provider offer those music channels that play songs and show "trivia" about the songs and the artists? Do you spend any time listening? I don't listen much, but when I do, I'm always listening to the 70s channel.

Howdy doo from me to you.

The maintenance guy came over this morning to fix a crank on one of the living room windows. Jimmy was so cute, he kept calling the man "sir." Our Jimmy is a pretty polite little guy.

I tuned in the World Series after last night's Lightning game was over. I knew the Cardinals were jinxed when Fox put up (and talked about) a graphic that pointed out how the Cardinals had never been involved in a 1-0 post-season game in their history. Texas then scored twice in the ninth on a pair of sac flies to win it. Oopsie doodle.
