Today is the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Atlantic Charter. The eight-point agreement was signed by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British prime minister Winston S. Churchill. The charter grew out of a three-day conference aboard ship in the Atlantic Ocean, off the Newfoundland coast, and stated policies and hopes for the future agreed to by the two nations.

NEW YORK -- Starting pitchers thrive on routine. But Jeremy Hellickson has pitched on four days' rest so rarely this season that he may not consider it normal anymore. If he appreciated doing it for the first time since June 15, his results didn't show it.

Plagued by control problems, Hellickson allowed four runs over 4 1/3 innings and took the loss in the Rays' 9-2 defeat to the Yankees on Saturday. The loss snapped a season-high five-game winning streak for the Rays, who now trail the Yankees by 8 1/2 games in the American League Wild Card race.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Subbing for Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch won Saturday's Zippo 200 Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen International in an event in which Busch and his brother, Kyle Busch, combined to lead every lap.

Keselowski, who broke his ankle Aug. 3 during testing at Road Atlanta, watched the race from the ESPN television booth as Busch held off Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano to win his first Nationwide race since 2006 and his third in 12 career starts.
