NFL players voted to OK a final deal Monday, days after the owners approved a tentative agreement, and the sides finally managed to put an end to the 4½-month lockout, the longest work stoppage in league history.

More than 140,000 kids with overdue fees of $15 or more in New York Public Libraries have the chance at amnesty. Amnesty means they'll get to take books out again -- if they participate in the library's summer reading program. Every 15 minutes of reading wipes out $1 in fines.

OAKLAND -- Tampa Bay could not hold a three-run lead Monday night while dropping a 7-5 contest to Oakland at O.co Coliseum with 11,053 watching.
The Rays have now lost nine of their last 13 games after losing the opener of a four-game series against the Athletics, the only American League club they had not played this season. In addition, they moved to 1-3 on the current 10-game road trip, in which the schedule makers appeared to provide the Rays a nice opportunity to get back into the pennant race with stops in Kansas City, Oakland, and Seattle.

Giant George, the world's tallest living dog, is getting his own book. He's 7'3" from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail and his owners in Tuscon, Arizona, have chronicled his life in Giant George, a new memoir due in August. His Facebook page has 70,000 fans.

PHILADELPHIA -- The San Francisco Giants, who visited the White House during yesterday's off day, are in Philadelphia tonight for a rematch of last year's N.L. Championship series with the Phillies. For the Giants, Barry Zito will start in place of Tim Lincecum, who was scratched due to a stomach bug. He'll be opposed by Philadelphia's Vance Worley. First pitch is at 7:05pm EDT.
