TORONTO -- In a game in which the opposition put up as many errors as it did runs -- a whopping five from the Blue Jays -- it ended up being a Rays defensive play that preserved the victory.
With two men on and Aaron Hill at the plate, Rays right fielder Matt Joyce shaded in toward right-center field, expecting Hill to send the ball in that direction. As if on cue, Hill sliced the second pitch he saw down the right-field line, forcing Joyce to make a terrific running catch far to his left, preventing the Jays from scoring two runs and tying the game at six.
It was the play that ensured a 6-5 Rays win over the Blue Jays in an error-filled contest at Rogers Centre on Wednesday night. Both Toronto runners would have scored easily, had Hill's fly ball dropped, and the Rays' early six-run lead would have been erased by a Blue Jays offense that chipped away at the Rays all night.

LOS ANGELES -- Cody Ross should have held his bald head high Wednesday after belting the three-run homer that snapped a ninth-inning tie and gave the Giants an 8-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
But Ross' head fell in sad empathy as somebody mentioned the plight of his teammate, third baseman Mark DeRosa, who strained his oft-injured left wrist and appears bound for another stint on the disabled list.
It was that kind of night for the Giants, who overcame the disappointment of squandering a 5-2 lead in the eighth inning before watching closer Brian Wilson (left ankle) and center fielder Aaron Rowand (back) join DeRosa on the injured list in the ninth. Unlike DeRosa, Wilson and Rowand appeared to be only mildly hurt. But their misfortune contributed to the Giants' sober mood.

I really like the newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They seem like pretty level-headed royalty who probably care more about the average Joe than most rich people. Which is why I hope like heck the estimated cost of their honeymoon is either a joke or just bad math. Reportedly the royal couple spent $720,000 on their honeymoon.
