University of North Dakota Remains No. 1
in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of North Dakota remains No. 1 in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll following a series sweep of Michigan Tech University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament. North Dakota, which improved to 28-8-3 and advanced to the WCHA's Final Five, collected 505 points and 29 first-place votes to earn the top spot for the fourth week in a row.

Boston College claims the No. 2 spot with 479 points and five first-place votes after twice defeating the University of Massachusetts in the Hockey East tournament, while Yale University (425) remains at No. 3 after winning its ECAC Hockey tournament series against St. Lawrence University. The University of Michigan (414) advances one place to No. 4 after clinching its Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament series against Bowling Green State University, while the University of Denver (359) rounds out the top five following two wins over Minnesota State University to advance in the WCHA tournament.

Colorado College makes its 2010-11 poll debut at No. 13, having claimed its WCHA playoff series against the University of Wisconsin this weekend. Dartmouth College also made its poll debut at No. 15 after defeating Harvard University two games to one in the ECAC Hockey tournament.

This week features three top-15 match-ups between No. 6 Miami University and No. 8 University of Notre Dame, No. 4 University of Michigan and No. 12 Western Michigan University, and No. 7 Merrimack College and No. 10 University of New Hampshire.

On Saturday (March 19), all five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, including the WCHA, Hockey East, ECAC Hockey, Atlantic Hockey and CCHA, will host their league championships.

NOTES: The WCHA leads all conferences with five ranked programs, while the CCHA boasts four ranked programs and Hockey East and ECAC Hockey each have three ... A total of 20 teams received votes.

ABOUT THE POLL: The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
