Boston College New No. 1 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boston College is the new No. 1 in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll after defeating the University of Massachusetts Lowell last weekend. The Eagles, who boast a 18-6-0 record, collected 497 points and 26 first-place votes to return to the top spot for the first time in 14 weeks.

Yale University claims the No. 2 spot with 448 points and three first-place votes following losses to then-No. 12 Union College and then-No. 10 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, while the idle University of Denver sits at No. 3 with 445 points and two first-place votes. Idle University of Minnesota Duluth is No. 4 with 407 points and three first-place votes, while the University of North Dakota (393) rounds out the top five after splitting a weekend series with Colorado College.

Boston University returns to the poll at No. 14 after earning a win and tie against then-No. 11 University of Maine.

This weekend features two top-15 weekend series, with No. 9 University of Michigan traveling to No. 13 Miami University and No. 6 University of New Hampshire hosting No. 15 University of Maine.

NOTES: Hockey East leads all conferences with five ranked teams, while the Western Collegiate Hockey Association boasts four ranked programs, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and ECAC Hockey each have three ... A total of 20 teams received votes.

ABOUT THE POLL: The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
