Cornell University New No. 1 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Cornell University is the new No. 1 in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll after twice defeating Niagara University last weekend. The Purple Eagles accumulated 175 points and eight first-place votes to earn the top spot for the second time this season.
The University of Wisconsin claims the No. 2 spot with 168 points and nine first-place votes following a weekend split with the University of Minnesota Duluth, while Mercyhurst College remains at No. 3 with 152 points and two first-place votes after defeating Colgate University. The University of Minnesota Duluth (141) stays at No. 4 following the weekend split with Wisconsin, and Boston University (111) rounds out the top five after earning two victories over Princeton University.
Northeastern University makes its 2010-11 poll debut at No. 10 following a win over Brown University.
This weekend features two top-10 teams squaring off, as No. 8 University of North Dakota will host No. 2 University of Wisconsin in a weekend series.
NOTES: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association leads all conferences with five ranked teams, while Hockey East has three, and ECAC Hockey and College Hockey America each have one team ranked ... A total of 13 teams received votes.

Fourth Annual Hockey Weekend Across America Set for Feb. 18-20, 2011
Event to Celebrate, Promote Hockey Across the Nation
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The fourth annual Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by Reebok -- a three-day nationwide celebration of the sport of hockey -- will take place Feb. 18-20, 2011.
Each of the three days associated with Hockey Weekend Across America has a theme, including Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey, presented by ShopUSAHockey.com on Friday; Bring A Friend to the Rink, presented by the NHL on Saturday and Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes, presented by Liberty Mutual Responsible Sports on Sunday.
HockeyWeekendAcrossAmerica.com will serve as the information hub for the event. It features material for download, including the event logo, posters and both video and audio public service announcements. Additional information will continue to be added, including highlights of activities planned in conjunction with Hockey Weekend Across America from around the country.
On Friday, Feb. 18, USA Hockey will direct fans to its Facebook page to submit photos of themselves, their friends and colleagues donning their favorite team's sweater at work or at school during "Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey" day.
On Saturday, Feb. 19, over 200 rinks across the nation will host Try Hockey for Free Clinics, exposing over 4,000 young kids to hockey for the very first time. A list of currently scheduled clinics as well as information on how local associations or rinks can host their own event can be found here.
On Sunday, Feb. 20, NBC presents its Hockey Day in America coverage, including an NHL doubleheader and content throughout the broadcast that showcases all levels of hockey in the United States.
