Yale University New No. 1 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Yale University earns its first-ever No. 1 ranking in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll following wins over No. 13 Union College and No. 15 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute last weekend. The Bulldogs, who boast a 10-1-0 record, collected 498 points and 24-of-34 first-place votes to claim the top spot.

The University of Minnesota Duluth sits in the No. 2 spot with 475 points and nine first-place votes after posting a 1-1-0 record against No. 10 University of Denver, while the University of New Hampshire (436) advances two places to No. 3 following victories over the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the University of Vermont. Boston College advances four spots to No. 4 with 394 points and one first-place vote after twice defeating No. 7 Boston University, while the University of North Dakota (382) rounds out the top five following a weekend sweep of St. Cloud State University.

This weekend features two top-15 match-ups, with No. 3 University of New Hampshire facing off against No. 6 University of Maine, and No. 7 Boston University visiting No. 15 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

NOTES: The Central Collegiate Hockey Association leads all conferences with five ranked teams, while the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Hockey East each boast four ranked programs, and ECAC Hockey has two ... A total of 21 teams received votes.

ABOUT THE POLL: The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
