University of Wisconsin Unanimous No. 1 in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Wisconsin is the unanimous No. 1 in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll. The Badgers accumulated 183 points and all 19 first-place votes to claim the top spot for the third week in a row.

Cornell University remains in the No. 2 spot with 166 points, while the University of Minnesota Duluth (147) advances one place to No. 3. Mercyhurst College (143) claims the No. 4 spot and Boston University (112) rounds out the top five after posting a 0-0-2 record against the University of Vermont last weekend.

Providence College and Dartmouth College both make their 2010-11 poll debuts at No. 8 and No. 10.

This week features two top-10 match-ups, including No. 8 Providence College facing off against No. 10 Dartmouth College tonight at 7 p.m. ET, and No. 5 Boston University facing off against No. 6 Boston College this weekend in a home-and-home series.

NOTES: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association leads all conferences with four ranked teams, while Hockey East has three ranked programs and ECAC Hockey has two. Mercyhurst College is the only College Hockey America team ranked ... A total of 15 teams received votes.

ABOUT THE POLL: The 14th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the four NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

A flood of female Facebook users woke up Tuesday morning to find their accounts disabled. Facebook figured out the problem and fixed it fairly quickly. Apparently Facebook's software was incorrectly flagging the accounts as frauds.
