First Annual USA Hockey Sled Classic Presented by the NHL Set to Kick Off This Weekend
Colorado Avalanche To Host Inaugural Event
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Forty-six of the top sled hockey players in the country will take part in the first annual USA Hockey Sled Classic presented by the NHL® this coming weekend (Oct. 8-10).
The Colorado Avalanche will host the tournament's preliminary rounds at the Edge Ice Arena in Littleton, Colo., on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 8-9), before holding the championship game on Sunday (Oct. 10), at Pepsi Center in Denver.
The 46 participants are members of four sled hockey teams affiliated with NHL clubs - the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Throughout the tournament, scores, statistics and photos from the event will be made available online. For more information on the USA Hockey Sled Classic presented by the NHL, including full rosters and a complete game schedule, click here.

U.S. National Under-18 Team Falls to the University of Denver, 8-1
Tyler Biggs Scores for Team USA
DENVER, Colo. - Tyler Biggs (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored the lone goal for Team USA, but the U.S. National Under-18 Team fell to the University of Denver, 8-1, here Saturday night at Magness Arena, in its first game against an NCAA opponent this season.
The University of Denver scored with less than one minute remaining in the first period, and then notched a goal late in the middle frame to take a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.
Biggs opened the scoring for Team USA just 30 seconds into the third period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Reid Boucher (Grand Ledge, Mich.) passed the puck up to Rocco Grimaldi (Rossmoor, Calif.) along the left sideboards. Grimaldi sent a cross-ice pass to Biggs at the right faceoff circle, who fired a wrist shot, beating University of Denver goaltender Adam Murray high on the glove side.
In the final frame, the University of Denver notched six more goals to complete the 8-1 victory.
Goaltender John Gibson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped 29 shots for Team USA in the loss, while Murray made 29 saves for the University of Denver in the win.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team next faces Colorado College tomorrow (Oct. 3) at 6 p.m. ET, at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.

University of Denver goaltender Adam Murray (Anchorage, Alaska/2006-09), forwards Drew Shore (Denver, Colo./2007-09), Nick Shore (Denver, Colo./2008-10) and Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, Nev./2008-10) all previously played for the National Team Development Program ... Reid Scores For Team USA
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Adam Reid (Chino Hills, Calif.) scored in the second period for Team USA, but the U.S. National Under-18 Team fell to Colorado College, 7-1, here Sunday night at World Arena.
Colorado College scored late in the first period and then added two more goals during the middle frame to take a 3-0 lead.
Reid notched a power-play goal at the 13:16 mark of the second period to cut Team USA's deficit to two goals. Robbie Russo (Westmont, Ill.) sent a cross-ice pass to Travis Boyd (Hopkins, Minn.) streaking along the right sideboards. Boyd then skated past the defense and passed the puck to Reid in front of the net, who backhanded the puck past Colorado College goaltender Joe Howe for the score.
Colorado College scored four goals in the final frame for the 7-1 victory.
Matt McNeely (Burnsville, Minn.) stopped 44 shots for Team USA in the loss, while Howe and Tyler O'Brien combined to make 16 saves for Colorado College in the win.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team next faces the Dubuque (Iowa) Fighting Saints October 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
