CHICAGO -- There's no truth to the rumor that the Giants manufactured DVDs of their 1-0 victory Tuesday night over the Chicago Cubs and express-mailed them to baseball writers assigned to participate in the National League Rookie of the Year voting.

But that might have been a good idea.

Performing under playoff-race pressure, Buster Posey showcased the skills that have made him a leading Rookie of the Year candidate. He homered in the eighth inning, threw out a would-be basestealer and guided Matt Cain and three relievers through a two-hit performance in San Francisco's 15th shutout of the season.
