The CEO of Ryanair says it's no longer necessary to have two pilots on every flight. He says computers do most of the flying and a flight attendant could be trained to act as backup in case the one and only pilot gets sick. (Okay then. Let me know which airlines get onboard with this idea, so I know which airlines to avoid.)

Baltimore - Normally lopsided games are quickly forgotten inside the losing clubhouse, but the Rays' 12-5 loss to the Red Sox on Monday night at Fenway Park might not be so easily dispatched given the nature of what transpired.

Starting pitching has been the straw that's stirred the drink for Tampa Bay. Now there are serious questions about Jeff Niemann, the 6-foot-9 right-hander who has been the team's most consistent starter all summer. In the opener, he took his third consecutive loss.

Read the rest here.

The Rays are 83-54, and trail the Yankees by 2 1/2 games in the A.L. East. They continue their three-game set in Boston tonight, with first pitch set for 7:10pm EDT on 620AM WDAE and the Rays Radio Network. After tomorrow's game, Tampa Bay will then play three in Toronto, before returning home on Monday, September 13th, for a big three-game set with the Yankees to jump start a six-game home stand, that includes three games with the Angels. After that short stay at home, the Rays play four at New York on the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd. All games for the remainder of the season can be seen on Sun Sports with the exception of the September 18th game at Anaheim, which will be available online at MLB.tv. Three Wednesday games, with Boston September 8th and with the Yankees September 15th and September 22nd, will air on ESPN.

Notes: David Price(16-6, 2.92) will start for Tampa Bay tonight against Boston. The Red Sox will counter with Daisuke Matsuzaka(9-4, 4.29)....The Rays loss yesterday drops their all-time record in games played on Labor Day to 1-8(They beat the Orioles in 2007)....Rocco Baldelli was yesterday's DH for the Rays. He hit .253 with 7 homers and 23 RBIs last season for the Red Sox.

Bob Dylan's paintings on display in Denmark are getting lousy reviews. And the museum that's displaying them is getting criticized for catering to a celebrity. (All this is putting a huge damper on the museum's upcoming Paris Hilton fingerpainting exhibit.)

Today is "Neither Snow nor Rain" Day. The United States Postal Service has no official creed or motto. Often falsely cited as such, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" is an inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City, derived from a quote from Herodotus' Histories, referring to the courier service of the ancient Persian Empire:

It is said that as many days as there are in the whole journey, so many are the men and horses that stand along the road, each horse and man at the interval of a day’s journey; and these are stayed neither by snow nor rain nor heat nor darkness from accomplishing their appointed course with all speed.
