The Tampa Bay Rays, struggling mightily to find some offensive consistancy recently, remembered to unpack their bats last night, scoring six runs in the eighth inning on the way to a 9-4 win over the Red Sox before 38,055 at Fenway Park in Boston.

The Rays broke out on top with three runs in the fourth inning. Matt Joyce and John Jaso scored on a double to center by Kelly Shoppach, a belt that probably should have been caught. Moments later, Shoppach scored on a single by Ben Zobrist. Boston made it a 3-1 game in the sixth, as David Ortiz doubled home Eric Patterson. Tampa Bay nursed that two-run advantage into the eighth, when the offense exploded. Evan Longoria scored on a Carlos Pena double; Pena and Joyce scored on a single by Sean Rodriguez, then Jason Bartlett blasted a three-run homer over the Green Monster, scoring Jaso and Rodrigues ahead of him, giving the Rays a 9-1 lead. The Red Sox made some noise with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, as another double by Ortiz scored Marco Scutaro and Patterson. Ortiz then scored on an Adrian Beltre sac fly, but that was as close as Boston would get and the Rays scampered out of town with the 9-4 win.

Matt Garza improved to 6-2 lifetime at Fenway Park, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts in 7+ innings. He's now 9-5 this season. Daisake Matsuzaka allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks in 6 innings and took the loss, he's now 5-3. The took 3:35 to complete.

Tampa Bay is now 45-32 and are third in the A.L. East, 1 game behind Boston and 2 games behind the Yankees. The Rays, continue their six-game road swing tonight with the first of four games at Minnesota. First pitch at Target Field is at 8:10pm EDT. Coverage of the road swing, which moves on to Minnesota for four games starting tomorrow, is on 620AM WDAE, the Rays Radio Network and Sun Sports. After this road trip, the Rays come home for seven games, with three against Boston and four against Cleveland starting next Monday.

There are plenty of cool tech features in today's cars, but one of them -- parking assist -- ranks low on most drivers' list of must-haves. Parking assist systems help drivers park backwards or parallel park using a built-in computer and small sensors. A new survey shows just 12% of car owners would be likely to pay for parking assist.

KARLSTAD, Sweden -- Kyle Kraemer (St. Louis, Mo.) notched four goals and Pat Lee (Shaumberg, Ill.) collected three assists as the U.S. InLine National Team earned a 10-5 win over Germany in its final preliminary-round game of the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation InLine Hockey World Championship. With a 3-0-0-0 overall record, Team USA earned the top seed in Group B and advanced to the tournament's quarterfinal round.

"I am really happy with the overall game we are playing," said U.S. head coach Rob Chornomud. "I think our guys are starting to have the confidence that we deserve to be here. We just have to ultimately go out and do the job for four quarters."

Team USA opened the scoring on a goal from Shawn Gawrys (St. Louis, Mo.) at the 10:10 mark of the first period. The U.S. rallied with five goals in the second period to head to halftime up, 6-0. Pat Maroon (St. Louis, Mo.) scored twice, while Rafael Rodriguez (Oceanside, Calif.) and Kraemer each scored a goal within 28 seconds of each other. U.S. goaltender Tommy Tartaglione (Harbor City, Calif.) recorded an assist on Kraemer's first goal of the game.

After the U.S. went up 7-0 in the third period on Gawry's second goal of the night, Germany cut the deficit to 7-2 with a pair of power-play goals. The U.S. responded, however, as Kraemer gave the U.S. an 8-3 lead heading into the fourth period.

The U.S. and Germany traded two goals each in the last stanza, Kraemer's final two goals sealing the win for Team USA. Tartaglione made 24 saves in the victory, while Germany goaltenders Jochen Vollmer and Thomas Ower combined to stop 16 shots in the loss.

The U.S. will next compete on Friday, July 2 at 12 p.m. EDT in the quarterfinal round. The U.S.'s opponent will be determined following tomorrow's (July 1) qualification round.

NOTES: Team USA went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Germany was 2-for-4 with the man advantage ...
