Danton Cole to take reins of USNTDP U-17 team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Danton Cole, who most recently served as the head coach at the University of Alabama Huntsville, was today named a head coach at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. As one of two head coaches at the NTDP, Cole will guide the U.S. National Under-17 Team during the upcoming 2010-11 season.

“We’re excited to bring someone with Danton’s qualifications to our National Team Development Program,” said Jim Johannson, USA Hockey assistant executive director of hockey operations. “He will be a great contributor in the overall development of our elite American players.”

Last summer, Cole served as an assistant coach of the U-19 Elite team that skated at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka in Slovakia and he also spent the past three years as Head Coach and associate athletic director at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, guiding the Chargers in 2010 to their second College Hockey America title and second-ever NCAA D-1 post season berth. He has also coached professionally in the AHL and UHL. Prior to coaching, he played for USA in three IIHF World Championships, as well as skating 318 games in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995.

Granato to be One of First Females Inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame

Team USA Veteran, Women's Hockey Pioneer
to be Enshrined as Part of HHoF's Class of 2010


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Cammi Granato, two-time Olympian and 15-year member of the U.S. Women's National Team, was today announced as one of the first two female members in the 65-year history of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Granato will be formally inducted into the Hall on Nov. 8 as part of the Class of 2010 that also includes Dino Ciccarelli and Angela James in the player category, as well as Jimmy Devellano and Daryl "Doc" Seaman in the builder category.

Granato, who started playing on boys teams in grade school and eventually became a star on the Women's National Team from 1990 to 2005, will become just the ninth American-born player in the Hockey Hall of Fame and the first from Illinois, adding to the 244 players and 337 total enshrinees currently in the Hall.

2010 U.S. InLine National Team Roster Announced

Team USA to Compete at 2010 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey today named 14 players to the U.S. InLine National Team that will compete at the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation InLine Hockey World Championship in Karlstad, Sweden, June 28-July 4. The announcement comes following a two-day tryout camp in Lakewood, Colo.

“The competition at the tryout camp was excellent," said Rob Chornomud, head coach of Team USA. "We have an excellent blend of offensive and defensive elite roller hockey players, and are looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the world's best.”

The roster is highlighted by 10 veterans of the U.S. InLine National Team, including Pat Lee (Schaumburg, Ill.), who is making his sixth appearance with Team USA (2002-04, 2008-09), and C.J. Yoder (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who will be representing the U.S. for the fifth time (2001, 2004, 2007, 2009).

Nine members of the 2009 silver medal-winning U.S. InLine National Team are represented on the roster, including goaltenders Troy Redmann (Brea, Calif.) and Tommy Tartaglione (Harbor City, Calif.); defensemen J.P. Beilsten (St. Louis, Mo.), Gerald Osterkamp (Covina, Calif.), Raf Rodriguez (Oceanside, Calif.) and Yoder; and forwards Shawn Gawrys (St. Louis, Mo.), Lee and Nathan Sigmund (San Diego, Calif.).

The four newcomers to Team USA include Anthony Miner (Glendora, Calif.), Stephen Campbell (Corona, Calif.), Kyle Kraemer (St. Louis, Mo.) and Pat Maroon (St. Louis, Mo.).

Team USA will begin tournament action Monday (June 28) at 12 p.m. EDT against Canada.

NOTES: Rob Chornomud will serve as head coach for the 2010 U.S. InLine National Team for the second consecutive year, while former U.S. InLine National Team member Josh Milewski will be the assistant coach … In the 13-year history of the IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship, the United States has earned gold medals in 1996, 1997, 2004 and 2006; silver medals in 1998, 2001 and 2009; and bronze medals at the 2000, 2003 and 2005 tournaments. There was no tournament played in 1999.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The 2010 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship will include 16 teams divided into the Top Division and Division l. The United States will compete in the Top Division alongside Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Slovenia and Sweden. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Great Britain, Hungary, Japan and Slovakia will comprise Division I.

For the preliminary round, the two divisions will each be divided into two groups of four teams based on rankings (Top Division-groups A and B, Division I-groups C and D). Following round-robin play within each group, the two lowest ranked teams from the Top Division and the two top teams from the Division I will face off as part of play-in games to determine pools for the playoff round.

Stone Selected to Lead U.S. Women's National Program in 2010-11

USA Hockey Women's National Festival Roster Continues to Take Shape

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Katey Stone, head women's ice hockey coach at Harvard University, will lead the U.S. Women's National Program throughout the 2010-11 season. Her duties will begin at the upcoming USA Hockey Women's National Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Stone will also serve as head coach for Team USA at the 2010 Women's Four Nations Cup in Canada in November and the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Championship in Switzerland in April.

Stone has coached with the U.S. Women's Select Team, the U-18 and U-22 teams and is the winningest coach in the history of NCAA Division-1, guiding Harvard to 339 wins in 16 seasons.
