This just in....













The Tampa Bay Rays lost their second straight to the Oakland A's, losing 4-0 this afternoon in front of just 12,228 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. And, for the second season in a row, they have had a perfect game pitched against them. (Tampa Bay is the first team in major league history to have a perfect game pitched against them in consecutive seasons.) Dallas Braden fanned 6 and didn't allow a base runner, improving his record to 4-2, while becoming the 19th pitcher in major league history to pitch a perfect game. The A's scored once each in the second and third and twice in the fourth. Daric Barton had 3 hits and scored twice, Ryan Sweeney, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Landon Powell drove in one run apiece. James Shields had a strong effort on the mound for the Rays, striking out 6 and allowing two earned run (on 11 hits) in six innings. losing for the first time this season in five decisions.

Tampa Bay, now 22-9 on the season, trail the Yankees(who play Boston tonight) by percentage points in the A.L. East. The Rays move on to Los Angeles for three games with the Angels starting tomorrow at 10:05pm EDT on 620AM WDAE, before returning home Friday against the Seattle Mariners.
