The Tampa Bay Rays found the win column last night, ending a three-game skid with a 7-2 win over the Angels. The Rays scored twice in the third, once in the fifth and three in the seventh, before allowing two in the eight, before scoring once more in the ninth for the final 7-2 score.

Evan Longorgia went 2-for-5 with a homer and 4 rbis to lead Tampa Bay's offense. Jeff Niemann improved to 3-0, fanning 4 and allowing just 2 earned runs in 7 1/3 innings. Former Ray Scott Kazmir took the loss, falling to 2-3.

Tampa Bay is now 23-10, 1 game ahead on the Yankees in the A.L. East. The Rays are at the Angels tonight, 7:05pm EDT on 620AM WDAE. Tampa Bay returns home to host Seattle on Friday.

In the American League, Tampa Bay leads the Yankees by 1 in the East, Minnesota is 2 1/2 up on Detroit in the Central and Oakland and Texas are tied for first in the West.

In the National League, Philadelphia is 2 1/2 ahead of the Mets and Washington in the East, St. Louis is 2 ahead of Cincinnati in the Central and San Diego is 1 1/2 ahead of San Francisco in the West.

In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also highlighting the player who makes the best catch of the week, the playmaker of the week, and the highlight of the week. The Cutters Catch of the Week Award for Week 6 goes to Tulsa wide receiver DONOVAN MORGAN, while Orlando’s wide receiver RAYSHAWN KIZER has been named the Playmaker of the Week.
