The Tampa Bay Rays built an early lead, came from behind to force extra innings, then won on Jason Bartlett's bunt in the 11th inning that scored John Jaso, slipping past the Cleveland Indians 4-3 Monday in front of 18,879 at Tropicana Field.
The Rays grabbed the lead with a two-spot in the first, as Ben Zobrist scored on a Carl Crawford triple, with Crawford being singled home by Evan Longoria.

Cleveland battled back to take the lead with single runs in the second, fourth and sixth. Austin Kearns scored on a Jhonny Peralta single in the second, Mike Redmond scored on a Luis Valbuena single in the fourth and Peralta scored on a sixth-inning single by Trevor Crowe. Tampa Bay tied it in the eighth as Carl Crawford scored on a Hank Blalock single. That set the stage for Bartlett's 11th-inning safety squeeze that scored Jaso and gave the Rays the 4-3 win.

Andy Sonnenstine fanned two in a perfect 11th, winning in his first decision of the year. Jamey Wright took thew loss, he's now 1-2.

Tampa Bay is now 27-11, two games ahead of the Yankees in the A.L. East. The Rays continue this brief homestand with a businessman's special this afternoon against Cleveland. First pitch is set for 1:10pm EDT today on 620AM WDAE and seen on Sun Sports. After today's game, the Rays visit the Yankees for two and meet Houston for three in their first interleague action of the season, before returning home on Monday, May 24th, for three games against Boston and four against the White Sox.

Today is the 30th anniversary of the May 18th, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens(located 50 miles northeast of Portland, Oregon and 96 miles South of Seattle, Washington), that blew 1,300 feet off the top of the mountain and left a total of up to 61 people either dead or missing.

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake on March 20th, 1980 rocked the mountain, and seven days later, a small opening on the top of the mountain allowed steam to start venting. A noticable bulge appeared on the north side of the mountain by the end of April 1980.

This is the mountain one day before the May 18th eruption.

At 8:32am PDT on May 18th, 1980, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake rattled Southwest Washington, causing a growing bulge on the peak's side to slide away. 1,300 feet of the peak to both collapse and blow outward, filling the valley below with a debris avalanche. A lateral blast damaged 250 square miles of recreation, timber and private lands and an estimated 200 million cubic yards of material was deposited into river channels by lahars associated with the blast. Between 57 and 61 people were either killed or are still missing.

Over 1.5 million metric tons of sulfur dioxide was released into the atmosphere. Ash, reaching 12 to 16 miles above sea level and traveling at 60mph, turned day into night in several Eastern Washington towns and cities, reaching the state of Idaho by noon and eventually circling the globe. 3.9 million yards of material traveled 17 miles, ending up in the Columbia River.

The eruption continued spewing material for nine hours, before beginning to subside by 5:30 that afternoon, with less severe explosions continuing through the night and for the next several days.

Several significant, but smaller eruptions occured over the next few months, with mostly steam releases or dome building eruptions taking place since.

I was in the studios of radio station KARO in Vancouver, Washingtom when the mountain blew it's top, but didn't know it had happened until later that day. When I got a look at the raw power and energy released by the mountains' eruption, I was amazed and remain so to this day.

The United States narrowly defeated Italy, 3-2 in a shootout, Tuesday in its final game at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship tournament in Germany. The win saved the U.S. the embarrassment of being demoted from the IIHF's top division, something that last happened in 1982.

The shootout lasted seven rounds, and Oshie, a St. Louis Blues center, took five of those attempts for the U.S. (IIHF rules allow for teams to re-use shooters after three different players have shot). Oshie scored on three of his five attempts.

"The hockey gods were not with us," U.S. defenseman and captain Jack Johnson of the Los Angeles Kings told IIHF.com of his team's struggles. "I am glad we can look forward to next year. We're glad it is over but we're glad for next year."

New York Rangers center Brandon Dubinsky gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes with a power-play goal, but Italy scored the next two. Giulio Scandella scored the equalizer at 14:00 of the second period, and Stefano Margoni stunned the crowd of 5,864 at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany, when he put Italy in front 2-1 at 6:49 of the third period.

The U.S., needing only one point from the game to avoid the possibility of relegation, tied the score on a power-play goal by Edmonton Oilers center Ryan Potulny with 8:52 remaining in regulation.

The U.S. outshot Italy 52-28 in regulation and overtime. U.S. goaltender Scott Clemmensen of the Florida Panthers stopped 26 shots to earn the victory. Daniel Bellissimo made 49 saves for Italy.

The U.S. finished with three wins, three losses and 10 points, and tied their worst-ever showing by placing 13th in the 16-team field, a position it last finished in 2003.

After scoring only four goals in three preliminary-round games -- all losses, two in overtime -- the U.S. exploded for 16 goals to go 3-0 in the relegation round.

Dubinsky currently leads all players with 7 assists and 10 points.

A North Carolina waitress lost her job after complaining about a lousy
tip on Facebook. She complained about a couple sitting at her table
for 3 hours and only leaving $5. What's the dumbest thing you've seen
someone post about their employer or a customer on Facebook?

Here he is, wearing Daddy's shoes:

"Hello? Pizza Parlor? Can you deliver a large pizza with extra pepperoni and cheese please?"

Here's what happens when Jimmy decides he's had enough milk for breakfast....
